What is 19-0 stainless steel (SUS430J1L)?

This steel contains approximately 19% chromium and also contains copper (Cu) and niobium (Nb) to improve corrosion resistance and workability. It boasts corrosion resistance almost on a par with SUS304. In terms of JIS standards, it is equivalent to SUS430J1L. The Puppy Brand series primarily uses NSSC180 stainless steel made by Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal.

Using our press technology, we have succeeded in mass-producing 19-0 stainless steel, which has a low elongation rate and is difficult to process. (We received full cooperation from Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Stainless Steel Corporation in both manufacturing and brochures.) While it boasts corrosion resistance almost equal to that of SUS304, because it is a highly magnetic chromium-based stainless steel, school lunch containers (transport containers with fasteners) can be used on induction cooktops by simply removing the lids. This highly corrosion-resistant, magnetic stainless steel opens up new possibilities.

Nickel-based stainless steels such as SUS304 (18-8) have seen a significant price rise in recent years due to the influence of the LME nickel market.
There is no denying the possibility that such an incident may occur again in the future. Therefore, we will continue to work on this type of steel, aiming to maintain a stable supply and stable prices, and to develop new added-value products by using this chromium-based stainless steel, which is less susceptible to market fluctuations.
